About the Event
Join us for a Black Creatives Meetup at The Maker Exchange:
This all-ages DIY patch workshop is centered on sustainable community crafting! Kicking off with a quick presentation packed with tips on reducing waste when creating, participants will explore easy ways to reuse natural materials as well as fun ideas to resourcefully upcycle their wardrobes and spaces. Participants will also hear from local entrepreneurs Kristen 'KC' Coleman & Paris Harris
The patch workshop involves selecting your patch surface and backing materials to begin, decorating your surface through a variety of techniques (including appliqué, stamping, and embroidery), finishing off raw edges either by adhesive, hand stitching or machine stitching. You will also receive a take home kit that can be used to turn your own favorite fabric scraps or tattered up t-shirts into upcycled patches.
