About the Event

The Reading and Research Room provides access to a collection of literature that documents the Black experience in Knoxville and the surrounding Appalachian areas and also showcases literature surrounding religion, cultural arts, gender identity, and socioeconomics. The room also houses printers and computers, all resources for public use. The two-hour-long event will include selected readings from the room orated by award-winning wordsmith and nationally acclaimed motivational poet Rhea Carmon, also known as ‘RheaSunshine’.
