About the Event

Over the course of 18 months, this group has gathered weekly in community workshops to transmit hand-building techniques, explore narratives of expression, and empower Knoxville’s Black creative community through the ceramic art form. The Ceramic Soul Reception will be taking place on 11/17 at The Emporium from 6-9 p.m.

The very existence of this exhibition is a testament to the power of individual and collective imagination to eradicate barriers, create space for diverse voices, and uplift ever-expanding souls. This exhibition, on display from 11/7-11/25, is a celebration of the following individuals’ actions: Jalynn Baker, Maggie Connolly, Jazzmine Curtis, Fitrah Hamid Golden, George Habeib, Alex Kellam, Ty Murray, Jeremy Myles, Eric Sherwood, and Kifeney Walker.

This project is being supported in whole or in part, by federal award number 21.027 awarded to the City of Knoxville by the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the Arts & Culture Alliance.
