About the Event
Join us for our next book club, where we'll dive into Rooted in the Earth: Reclaiming the African American Heritage by Dianne D. Glave. The Bottom Book Club will meet on Sunday, September 22, from 10 am to 12 pm, in partnership with Black Girl Environmentalist: Knoxville Hub and Odd Fellows Cemetery!
Our gathering will feature a special workday at Citizens Cemetery, where we'll work with BGE members Maddei and Wesleigh to reclaim the space from invasive plants. We’ll kick off with the workday, followed by an engaging book discussion. Don’t forget to wear comfortable clothing, closed -toed shoes, and bring sunscreen, water, and insect repellent. Be sure to pick up your copy of the book from The Bottom and read it before our meeting.
