Black History Saturday School

Join us every Saturday in February from 10am-11am for Black History Saturday School. Educators from our community will lead us on a historical journey spanning from African Kingdoms to Reconstruction. This series is a perfect event for middle school aged children and up & is open to the public!

About the Event

This Saturday's class will feature a drum circle and lesson on African drumming led by cultural music educator Obayana Ajanaku. Over the past 20 years as a performing artist and educator, Obayana has rendered his arts and edutainment services to a plethora of K-12 schools, universities, festivals, community centers, libraries, and concerts throughout the United States and abroad. He is currently the West African drum Instructor at Austin-East Magnet High School, and Vine Middle Magnet, in Knoxville,TN, the founder of Indigenous Vibes edutainment group, and the Executive Director of drums Up Guns Down.
